Class Rules
You and your work are expected on time.
Detentions are assigned for tardies. I will not accept late work for
unexcused absences or tardiness.
You will need to read the material BEFORE
coming to class. I will explain concepts and vocabulary, provide you
with a PowerPoint presentation, but the content needs to be read
independently.
Cell Phones are not to be seen or heard in
the classroom. It will result in a ZERO for the day and/or assignment.
There is no eating, drinking or sleeping in
class. My class is neither a restaurant or a hotel. Take care of your
personal needs before or after class. If you have your head down, I
will assume you are sick or dead - either way, you will be asked to
leave the class.
Dress code will be enforced. If it doesn't
cover you, don't wear it.
"Test spelling" will be marked as an
incorrect answer. 'You' is not spelled u, 'because' is not spelled b/c,
etc. Capital letters are expected for all proper nouns.
Projects will be accepted for a reduced
grade. The date given for projects is the last date your PROJECT is
due. If you are absent, your project still needs to be in class on
time.
Attendance is important. Much of my class
is based on material other than the textbook. Activities completed in
class are planned to enforce a skill or concept. It has been my
experience that students with excessive absences, 3+ per quarter, cannot
keep up with the class. I cannot, or will not, take responsibility for
students who are habitually absent with low/failing grades.
Make-up tests are given on Tuesday and
Thursday mornings between 7-7:30 AM within the week you return from an
absence. They are primarily essay.
